Some designs begin with a sketch, others with a stitch pattern, and some are born from moments shared with the people we love most. The Circus Scarf is one of those designs.

This scarf was created alongside my daughter, during a season filled with creativity, conversations, and a lot of color. One of her favorite shows these days is The Amazing Digital Circus, and one character in particular stood out to her: Zooble. She shows genuine care for others, and unapologetically different... those qualities became the emotional spark behind this design.

I wanted The Circus Scarf to reflect that same sense of curiosity and individuality. The result is a colorwork scarf that feels joyful and modern, while still being timeless and wearable. Each color change feels intentional, almost like pieces of a story coming together, much like the character that inspired it.
For the yarn, I chose Apricity from Hobbii, a yarn that was perfect for bringing this design to life. Its softness, stitch definition, and vibrant color palette allow the colorwork to truly shine, while still creating a scarf that feels cozy and comfortable around the neck. Apricity made it possible to balance bold contrasts with harmony, something that was essential to this design.
Designing The Circus Scarf was also a reminder of why I love knitting so much. It’s not just about creating something beautiful to wear, but about capturing moments, stories, and inspirations that matter. This scarf holds laughter, imagination, and the quiet joy of making something together.
Whether you’re drawn to colorwork, inspired by playful creativity, or simply looking for a project that feels meaningful, I hope The Circus Scarf brings more creativity to your knitting journey, just as it did to mine.

The Circus Scarf knitting pattern is available on my website, Etsy, and Ravelry. The pattern includes clear written instructions along with two colorwork charts: one featuring the exact color combination used in the sample, and a second blank chart designed to invite your own creativity. Whether you choose soft pastels, timeless neutrals, or a simple two-color version, The Circus Scarf offers endless possibilities to make the design uniquely yours.

As you cast on your own Circus Scarf, I hope you allow yourself to play with color and make the design truly your own. I would absolutely love to see your finished scarves and the color combinations you choose. Please feel free to tag me on social media or share your project with me... seeing your creativity and how you interpret this design is one of the greatest joys of being a designer.

Happy knitting,
Yessy
